After a 3 wicket haul in the first game, he replicated his fine form both with bat and ball against Uttar Pradesh. While the match ended in a draw, it was Bengal who got all 3 points, courtesy of a higher first innings score.
Kaif scalped 4 wickets in the first innings as Bengal crumbled Uttar Pradesh to a mere score of 60 runs. On came Bhubaneshwar Kumar and he broke Bengal’s back with a 8-wicket haul. Bengal managed to register 188 runs courtesy of a crucial knock from Kaif.
The all-rounder remained unbeaten on 45 from 79 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. This helped Bengal take a comfortable first innings lead. With this lead, Bengal got the crucial 3 points from the match.
Uttar Pradesh was solid with their batting on their second innings. They managed 178/4 before the game ended on a draw. But yet again Mohammed Shami’s brother shone brightly for Bengal. Kaif scalped 3 wickets to dismiss Samarth Singh, Aryan Juyal and Priyam Garg.
Day 4 of the match yielded no play as the game couldn’t commence owing to bad light. In the end, it was courtesy of Mohammad Kaif’s all-round heroics that Bengal took the upper hand on Uttar Pradesh. With this, Bengal now has 4 points from 2 games in the ongoing Ranji Trophy campaign.
