Ranji Trophy: Domestic Giant Jalaj Saxena achieves rare feat, only third in history to do so

The 37-year-old Jalaj Saxena made his Ranji Trophy debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2005.

All-rounders are great assets to any team, and over the years, the Indian team has seen quite a few of them. But it is the domestic stars who go largely unnoticed, despite achieving feats, that look near-impossible. Kerala star Jalaj Saxena is one of those unfortunate ones, who not only failed to get into the Indian team, but his all-round contribution hasn’t grabbed much attention.

The all-rounder, achieved yet another remarkable feat in domestic cricket, which only two other players had previously got to. After the likes of Madan Lal, and legendary Vinoo Mankad, Jalaj is now the third with a rare double of 9000 runs and 600 wickets in domestic competitions.

In the Ranji Trophy 2024 Kerala vs Uttar Pradesh match, Jalaj picked up three wickets and scored seven runs, to cross the landmark. Meanwhile, the match ended in a draw.
