Mohammed Shami’s brother, Mohammed Kaif, has received maiden call up in Bengal squad for the opening two fixtures of the Ranji Trophy 2024 tournament starting on January 5.
Kaif, who made his List A debut for Bengal in 2021, had a decent Vijay Hazare Trophy where he picked 12 wickets in 7 games.
Bengal Sports Minister Manoj Tiwary will lead the side.

The 38-year-old Tiwary, who withdrew his decision to retire from all forms of cricket in August this year, led Bengal to final in Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season where they lost to Saurashtra.
A veteran of 141 first-class games, Tiwary has 29 hundreds and 45 half-centuries to his name in the domestic cricket.
Other prominent young names in the Bengal team include Abishek Porel, Ishan Porel, and Akash Deep.
The two-time Ranji Trophy winners will face Andhra and Uttar Pradesh in their first two fixtures on January 5 and January 12, respectively.
