A lot of Ajinkya Rahane fans were looking forward to seeing him play again, even if it meant at the Ranjit Trophy 2024. The stylish India batsman was not picked for the Test series against South Africa, and many were hoping that he could make it count in the domestic tournament. But much to the disappointment of everyone, Rahane was not part of the playing XI for Mumbai’s first match against Bihar.
While Rahane was announced the skipper prior to the start of the tournament, all-rounder Shams Mulani was named the captain of the side, for the match. The reason for Rahane’s absence is still unknown though. Earlier, India batsman Prithvi Shaw too was left out of the squad for Mumbai’s first two matches.
