Kerala will take on Jharkhand in their opening game in Ranji Trophy
Under the leadership of Samson, Kerala will take on Jharkhand in their opening game of the Ranji Trophy. The match is slated to start on December 13 (Tuesday). The Kerala board has also announced their squad for the first two matches. Apart from making Samson captain, the board has also appointed a new vice captain in form of Sijomon Joesph.

Samson starts gearing up for the tournament
The Indian batter recently uploaded a post on his official Instagram handle. In the post, Samson was snapped while doing a running drill. To note, Sanju Samson was part of Team India that travelled to New Zealand post the T20 World Cup in Australia. However, the 28-year-old managed to get one match out of the six matches on the tour. Samson was not selected for the Bangladesh tour and will hope to make an impression on the Indian selectors after performing well in the Ranji Trophy.

Samson needs to perform well in Ranji Trophy to mark his comeback in the Indian team
With the Bangladesh tour being the last series of the 2022 season, Samson will have to wait until next year. The Men in Blue are slated to play SriLanka, Australia and NewZealand in the month of January and February. The home series will begin against Sri Lanka. The India vs Sri Lanka series will be three-match ODI and T20I series.
After the SriLanka series, the home-side will take on Australia and New Zealand. Team India will take on the Blackcaps for a white ball series. The series against Australia will be seven-match series which includes four Test and three ODI’s. Samson who will be leading Kerala in the domestic competition, needs to do well in the Ranji Trophy to mark his return to the national side.
