Young batter Rajat Patidar made his ODI debut for Team India in the IND vs SA 3rd ODI at Paarl on Thursday, December 21.
While it was a special moment for the 30-year-old, he also became the first player to gain from IPL’s new incentive plan for uncapped players.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce a new plan that aims to reward those Indian players who makes international debut between IPL seasons.
In normal circumstances, a player would have a fixed league fee once picked at the IPL auction for three years or until he is released by franchise. However, the fee can go up if an uncapped player is sold for a minimum fee of Rs 50 lakh.

If an uncapped player plays 10 international games between two IPL seasons, his fee can potentially double up.
Patidar stands to gain with the new rule. He was signed for INR 20 lakh at the auction by RCB. But because he made his international debut between two IPL seasons, his contract fee will automatically be upgraded to INR 50 lakh.
Patidar played a 16-ball 22 while opening the batting in the IND vs SA 3rd ODI before he was dismissed by Proteas pacer Nandre Burger.
