Two of Maharashtra’s best, Rahul Tripathi and Ruturaj Gaikwad, will play together once again. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star Tripathi, who had decided to play for Goa last season, has decided to return to his home state for the 2024-25 season. The right-handed batter will play under Gaikwad, who led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2024, and will be at the helm of Maharashtra as well following Kedar Jadhav’s retirement.
Apart from Tripathi, Maharashtra has brought in Rajneesh Gurbani from Vidarbha to further bolster their side. Gurbani, who played a vital role in Vidarbha’s 2018-19 Ranji Trophy-winning campaign, has joined Maharashtra after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA).

Lakshmipathy Balaji, new Tamil Nadu head coach?
Tamil Nadu’s current head coach, Sulakshan Kulkarni, has ended his two-year contract after one season following some tension between him, the team’s captain, and the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). He’s moved to Maharashtra, much like Tripathi and Gurbani, and will be their commander-in-chief.
Kulkarni’s departure has opened the door for former Chennai Super Kings player and coach Lakshmipathy Balaji, who served as Tamil Nadu’s bowling coach last season and is likely to become their head coach now.
