Rahul Dravid’s son Samit opens up on getting maiden U-19 call, says work started years back

Rahul Dravid’s son Samit opens up on getting maiden U-19 call, says work started years back

Unlike his father Rahul Dravid, Samit is a fast-bowling all-rounder, and had shown his prowess with bat & ball in Cooch Behar Trophy.

There is a lot of interest around Rahul Dravid’s elder son Samit making it big in cricket. His journey at the Maharaja Trophy is the talking point for most cricket aficionados, and despite some mediocre outings there, he is rated highly. As a result of that, he has been picked in the U19 squad for Team India that is set to play a multi-format series at home.

Samit Dravid, A Future Star

Samit Dravid will be first seen in action in the three match One-day series in Puducherry from September 21 to 26, followed by two-four day matches in Chennai. After his selection into the side, the junior Dravid has reacted for the very first time.

Speaking on Star Sports, the youngster said, “Cricket is a process, and the process for my selection has been going on for the last few years. I’ve been dreaming, visualising about this. And I’m very happy, that this has finally come true. In fact, not just my name, I’m happy that three players from Karnataka have been selected.”

Talking about his performance in the Maharaja Trophy so far, he has scored only 82 runs in seven matches. But it was the Cooch Behar trophy earlier this year, that made all the difference. He was excellent throughout the tournament and helped his team clinch the maiden title where he scored 362 runs and got 16 wickets in eight matches.
