Former India head coach Rahul Dravid will reportedly join Rajasthan Royals as the head coach for IPL 2025. As per ESPNCricinfo, the Karnataka star recently signed a deal with the franchise and even participated in a round of discussions over the player retentions. As per the report, Dravid will assume the role of head coach while former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara will continue as the director of the team.
Dravid to return to RR
Dravid was last associated with RR in 2014 and 2015, playing the role of a mentor. He took over as the side’s captain in IPL 2012, taking over the responsibility from, Shane Warne. While his first season as captain ended with a 7th place finish for RR, he managed to lead the side into the playoffs in 2014.

After 2015, Dravid was associated with the BCCI, having been the head coach for India’s U-19 and India A teams. He then become the director at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before becoming the new head coach for India in 2021. Dravid finished his career as India coach on a high note, leading the team to their 2nd T20 World Cup win.
