Dravid sends warning ahead of Asia Cup, confident of playing Pakistan 3 times

India did not qualify for the finals of Asia Cup in 2022 edition. This time Rohit Sharma & Co would be aiming to go one step further

Rahul Dravid: Asia Cup – With Asia Cup 2023 schedule out, India vs Pakistan blockbuster battle is the talk of the town. These two teams will lock horns on September 2 in Kandy, however, team India head coach Rahul Dravid is optimistic of playing Pakistan three more teams in the Continental Cup. If Rohit Sharma & Co manage to qualify for the Super 4s stage, then they can face their arch-rivals three more times.

Speaking from the Caribbean Dravid said, “I think the schedule is out, and you have to qualify for the Super 4s to play Pakistan three times. One step at a time, don’t believe in counting my chickens too much. I know we are playing Nepal and Pakistan in the first two games. We need to play good cricket, win those games, and then see where the tournament goes. If we get the opportunity to play them three times, that’s fantastic.”

“We aim to reach the finals, and hopefully Pakistan reach finals as well, and that will be a great team, contest, and great for us. We certainly aim to do that. We want to play right up to the finals and win that Cup. But we also need to take the first two steps,” Dravid added.

Sri Lanka are the runners-up of the Asia Cup, as they beat Pakistan by 23 runs. India have won the Asia Cup seven times, the most by any country.
