Rahul Dravid opens up on how India will tackle ‘pitch challenge’ in T20 World Cup 2024

Dravid mentioned how the cricket landscape is changing and what the India cricket team will do to tackle the challenges it will bring.

After whitewashing Afghanistan in their last T20I series before the T20 World Cup 2024, India cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid opened up about how India will tackle the different pitch challenges at the upcoming mega event. Dravid was asked whether he thinks the cricket landscape is changing and how a team prepares for challenges that come up with it.

To this, Rahul Dravid replied:

“You have to change, and it’s adapting all the time.”

“I think that skills are getting better and better, and people are getting smarter in the T20 game, and skills are developing. You’ve got to develop with them; you’ve got to adapt to them.”

Talking about how we see more high-score affairs and how the pitches are different at every different venue, Rahul Dravid said:

“You’ve got to find a way. Scores are getting bigger and bigger, as we see. You’ve got to find a way to compete with that, but also just having the smarts and recognizing that, you know, not all wickets are going to be the same.”

“I think one of the challenges of cricket is that it’s not always played on the same kind of wicket. You know, you can play, as we saw even in the World Cup (2022) in Australia. To be honest, playing in Perth was very different from playing in Sydney.”
