Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali criticised Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid for his strategies in the World Test Championship (WTC) final matchup versus Australia that is currently taking place at the Oval. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ali noted the errors Rahul Dravid made as a coach and added that the Indian team’s players, with the exception of “Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja,” were worn-out.

“I am a huge Rahul Dravid fan, have always been and will remain. He is a class player, a legend. But as a coach, he is absolutely zero,” Ali said on his YouTube channel.

“You prepared turning pitches on India. Just answer me this. When India travelled to Australia, were there similar wickets? They had bouncy pitches, right? God knows what he was thinking. Jab upar wala akal baant raha tha toh pata nahi kaha pahaado ke peeche chhupe huye thhe (God knows where he was when god was distributing brains),” he added.

Ajinkya Rahane provides BIG UPDATE on finger injury, WTC Final star says ‘Injury won’t affect batting’

After three enthralling days at the Oval on Friday, Australia increased their lead over India to 296 runs and tightened their grip on the WTC final. Before tea, a shaky India were ultimately bowled out for 296 runs, and by stumps, Australia had added 123 runs to their already enormous advantage of 173 runs from the first innings. Only a miracle, in Ali’s opinion, can save India from losing the game.

“India lost the match the moment they chose to bowl worrying about the first two hours. And the kind of bowling that was on display was just like IPL. By lunch, the Indian bowlers appeared so happy as if they’d won the match. All India can do now is hope to get them out cheaply and hope for a miracle in the fourth innings. During the 120 overs that India fielded, I could see only 2-3 players being fit – Rahane, Kohli and Jadeja. The rest looked tired,” the former batter said.
