Rahul Dravid hints at star spinner’s return in IND vs AFG on ‘wrist spin friendly’ Antigua surface

India has played two spin-bowling all-rounders in the 3 matches they have played, who have combined bowled just 9 overs.

Team India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, has hinted at making two changes for the IND vs AFG match. On the eve of the game, Dravid was asked about the potential spin-friendly nature of the surface at the Kensington Oval and whether he feels Kuldeep Yadav will play for the first time in the T20 World Cup.

Kul-Cha comeback?

Dravid stated that he expects spin to play a major role in Antigua. In the pre-match press conference, he said, “We picked the squad keeping in mind all kinds of options. In New York, we had eight batting options. Yes, wrist spinners will come into play. Tough to leave anyone out. All four being left out do possess the quality. But conditions were in favour of pacers.

On whether Kuldeep will play or not. The Indian head coach hinted at not only having the left-arm wrist spinner but also Yuzvendra Chahal in the playing XI, if need be. If we feel the need to play an extra spinner in Kuldeep and Yuzi (Chahal), we will give it a thought,” Rahul Dravid added.
