While it was a rest day for Team as they travelled to Mumbai after defeating Netherlands in Bengaluru, head coach Rahul Dravid was straight back to work as he, along with the support staff head to Wankhede Stadium for a pitch inspection. Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey headed straight to take a look at the surface for IND vs NZ Cricket World Cup semi-final game, which is set to take place on November 15.
Notably, this has been a norm for Dravid and Co. in the ongoing tournament. A similar sight was at Eden Gardens in Kolkata last week when Dravid drove straight to the stadium to check pitch after landing in Kolkata for IND vs SA.
The 50-year-old was captured talking to the pitch curator while looking at the surface.
IND vs NZ semi-final likely to be high-scoring affair
The Wankhede pitch is set to provide a batting paradise in the semi-final. Four World Cup matches have been played so far at the stadium and all have been high-scoring games.
However, pacers are likely to get some assistance under the lights. We saw that during India’s clash against Sri Lanka where the Lankan batters struggled against the Indian pacers.
