Rahul Dravid confirms that T20 World Cup 2024 will be his last assignment as Team India head coach

Rahul Dravid's current contract ends after the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024

Indian cricket fans, it’s official! Rahul Dravid, the current head coach of India’s men’s team, has announced that the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 will be his last hurrah. This news has been circulating for a while, but now it’s coming straight from the coach himself, as reported by journalist Vimal Kumar, who is with the team in New York currently. Dravid has chosen not to extend his contract, which ends after the World Cup.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is on the lookout for a new head coach to lead the team forward. This marks the end of an era for Indian cricket under the tutelage of Rahul Dravid.

The frontrunner for the job seems to be Gautam Gambhir, who recently guided the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victory in IPL 2024 as their mentor. Gambhir himself hinted at his interest in the role during a recent media event, saying he would “love” to coach the Indian team. “There’s no bigger honor,” he stated.
