Afghanistan wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz chose Virat Kohli’s iconic cover drive over Babar Azam’s, as he took part in a Q&A session. Gurbaz has been one of the most sought after batters from Afghanistan, having recently put up a gritty performance in World Cup 2023. In a Q&A session with ESPNCricinfo, the Afghan star spoke about cover drives, the better India finisher and more.
Both Virat Kohli and Babar Azam have mastered the cover drive over the years, making it one of their iconic shots. When Gurbaz was asked to choose between the two stars’ cover drives, the Afghan thought long and hard before going with King Kohli’s. The former Indian skipper will be seen in action next in the IND vs SA Test series.
Gurbaz picks Dhoni over Rinku Singh
Gurbaz further chose MS Dhoni over Rinku Singh as a batter he would prefer to chase down 30 runs in the last over. The Afghan keeper said that there was no comparing anyone with MS Dhoni while also noting that Rinku Singh was batting exceptionally.
Coming to Gurbaz’s recent form, he has scored 280 runs in the recently concluded ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, scoring a gritty half-century against Pakistan. The Afghan international has been retained by Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders after a decent first season. Gurbaz had scored 227 runs in 11 matches at a healthy strike rate of over 133.
