‘Lot of Kiwi guys..’ Rachin set for IPL adventure with ‘storied’ MS Dhoni-led CSK

The 24-year-old Kiwi talent, known for his left-arm orthodox style, is eager to make the most of this invaluable opportunity.

Rachin Ravindra, the promising opener for the New Zealand, is embarking on a transformative journey as he gears up to join the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). His recent IPL 2024 auction experience proved to be a game-changer, securing a lucrative $350,000 deal based on his impressive World Cup performance.

The 24-year-old Kiwi talent, known for his left-arm orthodox style, is eager to make the most of this invaluable opportunity. Ravindra, along with retained players Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner, and the newly acquired Daryl Mitchell, will be part of the CSK squad led by India’s World Cup-winning captain, MS Dhoni.

Ravindra sees this stint with CSK as more than just a cricketing venture; it’s a chance to learn from some of the game’s greats. With the likes of Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and legendary Australian batsman Mike Hussey in the mix, Ravindra is poised for a cricketing education that extends beyond the playing field.

“It’ll be massive,” said Rachin Ravindra as per NZ Herald. “Not just being able to play in India, growing your game in different conditions, playing a format which is played a lot these days, but also rubbing shoulders with greats of the game.”

Despite the uncertainty of his playing time, Rachin Ravindra remains optimistic, emphasizing the growth mindset he brings to the experience. Whether on the field or not, he sees this opportunity as a chance to absorb knowledge from seasoned players and enhance his cricketing skills.

The IPL auction, though a bit surreal for Ravindra, was made more comfortable by the presence of fellow Kiwi players. His excitement about joining CSK, a franchise with a storied history, is palpable. Ravindra acknowledges the significance of being part of a tournament he grew up watching.

Talking about MS Dhoni-led CSK, Rachin said: “Being involved with a lot of Kiwi guys, I couldn’t have asked for a better spot to end up. It’s an amazing place to go to, from what I’ve heard.”

As he anticipates this thrilling phase in his cricketing journey, Ravindra is currently focused on the ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh, aiming for a sweep in the finale in Napier. Subsequently, he’ll feature in the T20 series, a late call-up to replace Kane Williamson, showcasing his commitment to securing a spot in all formats.

“I’m not a massive goal-setter,” Ravindra humbly stated. “I prefer to stay with what I like to do and my processes, work hard and focus on what I need to improve on. I think selection and everything will come as a byproduct of that.”

The IPL adventure awaits Rachin Ravindra, promising excitement, learning, and the chance to make his mark on the grand stage of T20 cricket.
