And into the IPL 2024 Final, the Sunrisers Hyderabad go. Following a thrashing at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 1, the Pat Cummins-led side has produced an incredible comeback win. Defending 176 against the Rajasthan Royals in the second Qualifier, the SRH’s spinner spun a web around Sanju Samson and co.
A big reason behind their success was Cummins’ incredible tactics and perfect usage of the impact player rule. How did the other players do in the SRH vs RR match? You’ll have to find that down below.
SRH vs RR Player Ratings: Does anyone get 10/10 in Qualifier 2?
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Travis Head (5/10): After a silver duck in the last match, the swashbuckling southpaw scored a sluggish 34(28). After scoring 533 runs in 11 matches, Head has scored just 34 runs in the last three innings. His going out of form at the business end is the reason why SRH is out of IPL 2024.
Abhishek Sharma (8/10): The opener did what he has been doing throughout the season: give a quick start. But his getting out in the very first over, albeit with a strike rate of 240, wasn’t optimal in a do-or-die game. But then he returned to bowl and claimed the prized wickets of Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer.
Rahul Tripathi (8/10): The right-hander has been a revelation in the later half of the tournament. He ensured that the run rate was high, with Head struggling at the other end. A short but incredible knock of 37(15) kept SRH alive in the game.
Aiden Markram (1/10): An already poor season got much worse for the South African skipper today. Having last played on April 28, the batter returned and managed to score just 1(2). He bowled a solitary over as well and gave away 10 runs.
Nitish Reddy (1/10): A forgettable performance where he failed to take his team forward, scoring just 5(10), and didn’t get a chance to bowl.
Heinrich Klaasen (8.5/10): A mature knock for the aggressive wicketkeeper batter. Known for his fast striking, the South African scored a calm and collected 50 which helped them get the win.
Abdul Samad (0/10): The finisher managed to get a golden duck and took one catch.
Shahbaz Ahmed (10/10): Impactful performance from the impact player. The southpaw all-rounder scored a run-a-ball 18 and got SRH to 175. However, it was his excellence with the ball that earned him the player of the match award. His wickets of set Yashasvi Jaiswal, in-form Riyan Parag, and Ravichandran Ashwin took his team to the IPL 2024 Final.
Pat Cummins (8.5/10): It was not his best day with the bat or ball, but his leadership was incredible today. His decision to bring in Shahbaz proved to be a masterstroke, and knowing how the pitch was behaving, he gave his part-timers the ball, and it worked wonders.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/10): The pacer failed to take a wicket in his 3-over spell and was SRH’s most expensive bowler.
T Natarajan (9/10): The only SRH pacer who looked at his best. He ensured his side won the game with the wicket of Rovman Powell and gave away just 13 runs in his 3 overs.
Jaydev Unadkat (8/10): A 5(2) with the ball and 0/5 from his one over. One can’t expect anything better from a player who was in action for just 7 balls.
IPL 2024
Rajasthan Royals
Yashasvi Jaiswal (8/10): After a bad IPL 2024 league campaign, Jaiswal played another crucial knock (42 off 21) and provided a solid foundation for the Rajasthan Royals to chase down 176.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore (2/10): Having performed above expectations in the last game, the Jos Buttler replacement failed to impress, scoring just 10(16) and killing the momentum provided by Jaiswal.
Sanju Samson (2/10): The R skipper had a great league stage run, but his form dipped when the side needed him the most. He fell for a sluggish 10(11) and that too to part-timer Abhishek Sharma.
Riyan Parag (2/10): After an incredible performance in the Eliminator, the in-form youngster couldn’t replicate the same in Qualifier 2, scoring just 6(10).
Dhruv Jurel (8.5/10): The keeper batter produced an inning for the ages, scoring 56(35) after a poor IPL 2024 season, but fell out of partners and ended unbeaten.
Shimron Hetmyer (2/10): Same as Samson and Parag, the West Indian finisher faced at least 10 balls but couldn’t have any impact. He couldn’t get the ball off the square and fell to Abhishek Sharma like Sanju.
Rovman Powell (2/10): Following his fellow Caribbean teammates’ footsteps, the powerplay player played a similar knock to many other RR batters, scoring just 6 runs from 12 balls.
Ravichandran Ashwin (1/10): After a POTM performance vs RCB, the smart off-spinner ended with the figures of 4-0-43-0 and scored a 3-ball duck.
Trent Boult (8.5/10): The left-arm swing bowler was expensive but effective. He scalped three consecutive wickets in the powerplay: Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi, and Abhishek Sharma. His last over was a tad bit expensive, but he’d already done his bit in the first six overs.
Avesh Khan (9.5/10): After getting hit for 13 runs in his first over, the tall pacer returned and picked Nitish Reddy, Abdul Samad, and Shahbaz Ahmed all the while giving away just 14 runs off his next over.
Sandeep Sharma (9/10): After a rare off day vs RCB, the medium pacer rocked RR with his incredible control, low economy, and consistent wickets. He took out SRH’s best batters, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen, and stopped them from getting to 200.
Yuzvendra Chahal (3/10): On a pitch where the SRH spinners thrived, RR’s best spinner failed. He managed to give away 34 runs in his quota of overs but couldn’t get a wicket.
