Since the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 is being organised in the USA and the West Indies this time around, there will be no way the Indian audiences can enjoy stadium-like atmosphere while watching their team play. Or is there? Good news for Indian fans. PVR Inox has decided to play select T20 World Cup matches in theatres. It will give the audience a stadium-like atmosphere while enjoying the matches in an air conditioned surrounding.
PVR Inox to show T20 WC
PVR Inox, which reported a net quarterly loss of Rs 130 crore ($15.6 million) on Tuesday, is building a portfolio of concerts, sports, and alternate events to attract crowds. As a part of that plan, PVR Inox has decided to show the live event.
Some select matches will be screened at the theatres. Inox feels that the short duration of T20 matches will attract more viewers compared to the 50-over format.
Master stroke?
Indian matches in the T20 World Cup are expected to garnered a lot of interest and Inox may have produced a master stroke by pushing their sphere into sports as well. Now it remains to be seen if Indian audiences fill up the theatres just like they fill up stadiums.
