PV Sindhu leads India to first ever Badminton Asia Team Championships medal

This victory comes on the heels of their stunning upset against the mighty Chinese team in the group stage.

The Indian women’s badminton team created history on Friday, securing their first-ever medal at the prestigious Badminton Asia Team Championships in Malaysia. Spearheaded by the indomitable PV Sindhu, the team comfortably defeated Hong Kong 3-0 in the quarterfinals, booking their place in the semi-finals.

PV Sindhu Sets the Tone:

India’s badminton queen, PV Sindhu, set the tone for the victory by dismantling Lo Sin Yan Happy in straight sets (21-7, 16-21, 21-12). Her dominant performance provided the perfect start for the team and inspired her teammates to follow suit.

Doubling the Advantage:

The talented duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto continued the winning momentum, showcasing their strong understanding and coordination as they breezed past Yeung Pui Lam and Yeung Nga Ting 21-10, 21-14 in the second match.

Chaliha Seals the Deal in Badminton Asia Team Championships

Youngster Ashmita Chaliha put the icing on the cake with a convincing straight-sets victory (21-12, 21-13) against Sum Yee Yeung in the third match. This win confirmed India’s historic entry into the semi-finals, a landmark achievement in the country’s badminton history.

Building on Recent Upset:

This victory comes on the heels of their stunning upset against the mighty Chinese team in the group stage. With Sindhu returning to form after an injury layoff and the entire team showcasing their fighting spirit, the Indian women have become a force to be reckoned with.

Eyes on the Prize:

As they gear up for the semi-finals, the Indian team continues to dream big. With their newfound confidence and momentum, they aim to rewrite history once again and potentially secure their first-ever Badminton Asia Team Championships title.
