Pundits pick Australia over India as favourites for Border Gavaskar Trophy

IND vs AUS Test: Pundits save Yuvraj Singh pick Australia as favourites to win Border Gavaskar Trophy over India Cricket Team

The biggest cricket event in 2024 will be the Border Gavaskar Trophy. As a result, ahead of the much anticipated IND vs AUS Test series, the pundits have given their say. In fact, a majority of the pundits have claimed that Australia are tipped to win the series. Only Yuvraj Singh has put his trust on the India Cricket Team claiming India will clinch the series with a 3-2 margin.

Former English great Michael Vaughan and Aussie great Adam Gilchrist has however pinned their hopes on the hosts, i.e. Australia to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Pundits favour Australia

The odds are heavily tipped towards Australia. And the pundits have voiced their say. But as things stand, it is India who tops the charts in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. Meanwhile Australia is closely placed second and breathing heavily on India’s neck.

The two teams would be unwilling to spare an inch of space for the opposition. As per the rules of the WTC, only the top two placed teams make it to the finals which will be held in Lords in 2025. Thus both India and Australia will be desperate to outclass their opposition.

Interestingly after the IND vs BAN Tests, India has 3 Test matches against the Kiwis. Meanwhile the Aussies have no Test matches left before the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The pundits have tipped the scales heavily in favour of Australia owing to their home advantage. But India are team not to stare down from any fight given the heroics in 2020-21 to clinch the series with a 2-1 margin.
