Empty stands was all one could see at the National stadium in Karachi for what was just game number 3 of PSL 10. After all the hype that former Pakistan cricketers created for the ignored league, hardly anyone turned up to watch the match between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans. That too, the KRK vs MS tie took place on a weekend (Saturday night).
KRK vs MS sees turnout of just 5000 fans
As per The Dawn, there were hardly 5000 fans present at the National Stadium in Karachi to witness the KRK vs MS match. On the other hand, there were 6700 security personnel present at the venue. This shows how much popularity PSL 10 enjoys alone in Pakistan, let alone the rest of the world.
Former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Ali had claimed earlier that fans would leave IPL to watch PSL if they played good cricket. While the so-called “good cricket” was played, it looks like spectators were in no mood to waste their money in watching IPL discards and their own players take the field.
On the contrary, all IPL 2025 matches held so far, including the day games, have witnessed great turnout. In fact, there were hardily any games where one could spot empty stands at stadiums across India.
What happened in KRK vs MS?
The contest between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans was a good one, to be honest. Batting first, MS raced to 234 in 20 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 105-run knock from captain Mohammad Rizwan.
However, MS gave a fitting fightback, with James Vince leading the charge. The England batter scored 101 to set up the perfect stage for Sultans in the run-chase. Khushdil Shah’s 60 pretty much sealed the deal for the team. David Warner and co. had the last laugh as they finished with a 4-wicket win against KRK.
