The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is ready for its ninth season. The PSL 9 Draft 2024 will be held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on 13 December 2023. The event is tentatively scheduled from 8 February to 24 March 2024. What is the PSL draft? how is it different from the IPL Auction? Here’s all you need to know about the draft process of the upcoming PSL edition.
What is Draft System?
PSL uses the draft system to pick players. Unlike Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, the PSL draft has been set in such a way that each has to pick players from five categories; Platinum, Diamond and Gold, Silver and Emerging. They need to have a minimum of four Pakistan and four foreign players. Each side could have 16 to 20 players.
PSL 9 Draft Pick orders
The pick order for the Player Draft was finalized earlier this month. The Quetta Gladiators will pick the first in the draft. The Platinum category’s first-round selection order was determined by the inverse order of the previous season’s standings.
