The highly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) double header on Saturday is expected to be marred by rain when play moves to Pindi Stadium. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday while the game is being played. Peshawar Zalmi will play Lahore Qalandars during the day, and hosts Islamabad United will play Quetta Gladiators in the evening match.
“Chances of rain with thunderstorms are likely for Saturday. In fact, rain is expected to start on Friday evening with Saturday being the most affected day of the upcoming rainy spell,” one of the Met Office officials was quoted as saying by The International News.
Heavy clouds were hovering over Rawalpindi-Islamabad even on Friday evening. Rain could pour in at any time during the next two days. Saturday could be the worst hit day,” the official added.
Pindi Stadium serves as the center of cricket activity in the area and accommodates cricket enthusiasts from KPK as well as the Potohar region. Most Zalmi fans have already flocked to the stadium, which is two hours’ drive from Peshawar, to watch their team play. They come from all over KPK.
Pindi Stadium consistently hosts a full house for PSL matches as well as international events. The presence of a large crowd here always makes the event joyous and memorable at the location. For the nine games that the stadium will host over the course of the next ten days, about 10,000 makeshift chairs have been set up there.
