Speaking about the game, Qalandars won the toss and had no hesitation to bat first. Fakar Zaman and Tahir Baig came out with a positive intent as they breached the 50-run mark in the first six overs. Islamabad skipper Shadab Khan and English pacer Tom Curran staged their team’s comeback as they scalped some crucial wickets in the middle overs.
Despite wickets going down, some excellent contributions from Sam Billings, Abdullah Shafique, Sikandar Raza, David Wiese and Rashid Khan ensured that the Qalandars breach 200-run mark in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Colin Munro started decently. However, it was a downslide once Gurbaz was sent back to the pavilion. None of the Islamabad batters managed to stick in the middle as the Qalandars gathered one more convincing win in the ongoing PSL 2023.
“Played very good cricket overall. Gave away too many runs yesterday. The plan was to focus on dot balls. Rashid and Sikandar bowled well. Great for a captain if your overseas and local players are both performing,” said Qalandars skipper Shaheen Afridi.
