Azam came out to bat when his side was in some sort of trouble. However, the right-handed batter showed no signs of pressure as he completely took apart the Qalandars bowling line-up. To note, Azam required three runs for a century on the last ball of the first innings. However, he was castled by Odean Smith.
“I knew the form was there, in BPL also form was there. The plan was to take it as deep as possible and I always believe in my ability. In the nets if you practice hard and face quick bowling it helps. I try to practice my range-hitting at my father’s academy so that I get an idea of my shots,” said Azam Khan after the knock.
“You need the acceleration at the right moment as the T20 format has become so fast-paced. I was eyeing that century but thanks to the almighty for giving me what I got. My father has supported me a lot, hats off to him. Lot of people have told me that you will not make it due to your father. Even he did not support me financially whenever I went to play domestic games but I’m whatever today is because of him,” he added.
