Shaheen Shah Afridi too took to his Twitter handle to share the gratitude. “What a humbling journey, Alhumdulillah! Shaheen Shah Afridi had earlier, expressed his desire to captain Lahore Qalandars. Afridi said that he is looking forward to leading Qalandars if given the opportunity.
Afridi will replace Sohail Akhtar who led the side in the last two editions. Under Akhtar’s captaincy, Qalandars’ finished as runner-up in PSL 2020 edition. Afridi made his PSL debut with Lahore Qalandars in 2018 and is one of the mainstays for the franchise. Afridi is also the leading wicket-taker for Lahore Qalandars picking up 50 wickets from 37 games.
The Qalandars is the only franchise that is yet to win the PSL title.
