Earlier, Mohammed Hafeez rescued the Lahore Qalandars from a tricky spot after Multan Sultans struck thrice in the powerplay. Hafeez stitched valuable partnerships with Kamran Ghulam and Harry Brook to pull Lahore out of trouble. Brook and David Wiese later piled the misery on the Multan Sultans in the final overs, scoring 77 of the last five overs, to take the team to 180 in their innings.
Hafeez then dismissed Sultans captain Mohammed Rizwan and Aamer Azmat to put Qalandars in the front seat. Zaman Khan chipped in with two wickets before Shaheen Afridi wrapped up the tail as Lahore sealed their maiden title triumph.
Before this season, Lahore were the only team to have not won the PSL title, and Shaheen Afridi and Co. ensured that the jinx was broken and they were crowned winners, in front of their home crowd at the Gadaffi Stadium.
