PSL 2022 Draft: Kamran Akmal threatens to withdraw after demotion says “Perhaps the team has no use for me anymore”
Speaking at his YouTube channel – Catch and bat with Kamran Akmal, the 39-year-old cricketer said: “Perhaps the team has no use for me anymore.”
Akmal, who was initially demoted to the Gold category from the Platinum category said he was surprised at that time but was clearly not happy after being demoted to the Silver category by Peshawar Zalmi.
“As far as the category is concerned, I was not happy when it was initially announced. I was very surprised to see my category demotion from Platinum to Gold despite my good track record,” Akmal added.
He further said that the franchise should give younger players more chances. “I do not think I should play in the seventh edition of the PSL,” Akmal said.
Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi retained eight players with Wahab Raiz and Liam Livingstone as Platinum picks. They released their all-time leading run-getter Kamran Akmal and were expected to pick him back up as a Gold category player in the players’ draft.
Ahead of the seventh edition of PSL, five players – Mohammad Amir, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, and Mohammad Hafeez were demoted including Kamran Akmal including. Kamran Akmal has played 69 matches for the Peshawar Zalmi and has scored 1820 including three centuries.
