Priyansh Arya chooses the IPL to hit his highest T20 score, smashes fastest century as uncapped player

Playing his just fourth IPL match, Priyansh Arya has hit a wondrous century vs CSK.

Youngster Priyansh Arya announced himself on the grandest stage with a blistering 39-ball century against Chennai Super Kings, the fastest ever scored against the five-time champions in IPL history.

The 22-year-old Punjab Kings opener lit up Mullanpur with a fearless knock, smashing 103 off just 42 deliveries, including 7 fours and 9 massive sixes.

While the PBKS top-order crumbled around him, Arya held firm with a stunning counterattack that left CSK’s star-studded bowling unit shell-shocked.

The southpaw dismantled Pathirana with three consecutive sixes to race into the 90s before bringing up his maiden IPL ton in style—a thick edge past third man off Pathirana that triggered wild celebrations in the PBKS dugout.

Arya’s century off just 39 balls is now the quickest by any batter against CSK in the IPL.

It also stands as:

  • The second-fastest for a Punjab Kings player (after David Miller’s 38-ball ton in 2013)
  • The joint-fourth-fastest IPL century of all time
  • The second-fastest by an Indian in IPL history, behind Yusuf Pathan (37 balls, 2010)

Uncapped Brilliance by Priyansh Arya

The PBKS star has now joined an elite list of uncapped players to score IPL centuries, alongside names like Shaun Marsh, Manish Pandey, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Remarkably, this is his second T20 century, having scored 102 for Delhi in a domestic game against Uttar Pradesh in 2024.

Lone Warrior Amid Collapse

Arya’s composure under pressure stood out as PBKS kept losing wickets at the other end. While he scored 103 off 42, the rest of the PBKS batters managed just 47 off 42. He showed maturity well beyond his years, taking on top bowlers like Matheesha Pathirana and Ravichandran Ashwin with ease.

After smashing six sixes in an over in the Delhi Premier League, Arya was picked up by PBKS for ₹3.80 crore. That faith is now being rewarded. In just his 22nd T20 match, Arya has already notched up two centuries—this one, on the biggest T20 stage of all. This knock wasn’t just a breakthrough—it might be the birth of a future IPL superstar.
