After going unsold in IPL 2025 auction, Prithvi Shaw managed to get just 13 runs off 23 deliveries in Mumbai's match against Kerala in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw‘s career continues to see a downward slope, with the star failing to fire in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The opener was dropped midway through the Ranji Trophy season for being ‘overweight’ following which he went unsold at the IPL 2025 auction. While he got off to a bright start in the T20 game against Kerala, Shaw failed to convert the start into a good knock, casting aspersions on his future.

Prithvi Shaw managed to get just 13 runs off 23 deliveries in Mumbai’s match against Kerala in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The opener hit two fours and sixes each before he was sent packing by Nideesh in the 4th over. It is pertinent to point out that Prithvi Shaw was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad for reportedly being ‘overweight’. He was released by Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of IPL 2025 and did not find a bidder at the auction in Jeddah.

Prithvi Shaw has been mired in a world of controverises in the recent past and the most recent one was his being dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team due to him being overweight and showing a lack of discipline.Despite registering for a base price of Rs 75 lakh in IPL 2025 auction, the Mumbai opener did not recieve bids from any franchises. Prithvi Shaw was dropped from Mumbai’s squad as there was 35% body fat found after tests, which is way above the permissible level for players to take the field.

Prithvi Shaw was getting paid a whopping Rs 7.5 crore by the Delhi Capitals in 2022 and 2023, but neither his performance nor his attitude justified the price for them.
