Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw found his golden touch in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy pre-quarterfinal match against Vidarbha as he narrowly missed out on a half-century. The opener stitched a 84-run opening partnership with Ajinkya Rahane in Mumbai’s run-chase against the opposition in Alur on Wednesday. After a string of poor scores in the previous matches, Shaw broke free of the shackles of poor form with a whirlwind knock that saw him miss out on his fifty by a whisker.

Prithvi Shaw narrowly misses out on 50 in SMAT quarterfinal

Chasing a target of 222, Prithvi Shaw went berserk right from ball number 1, striking five fours and four sixes en route to his 49-run knock. While he attempted to stay patient to get to his half-century, he ultimately faltered after attempting a big hit and getting caught out near the boundary ropes. With a strike rate of 188.46, Prithvi Shaw gave a perfect reply to his critics targeting him over his fitness and poor form in the last couple of months.
