Indian opener Prithvi Shaw has claimed that he is unsure of his future in the Indian Cricket Team. Shaw who is out of favour for the Men in Blue is currently in England playing County Cricket. Shaw who recently slammed a fine double century ton has claimed that he wants to enjoy his cricket in England and is not thinking about what the BCCI Selectors think.
“Definitely (here for the) experience for sure. Not really thinking what the Indian selectors may be thinking, but I just want to have a good time here,” Shaw said after the game.
“Northamptonshire have given me this opportunity… they’re really looking after me. I’m really enjoying it,” he added.
Playing for Northamptonshire Shaw hammered a blistering 244 run knock off just 153 balls to guide his side to a 87-run win over Somerset in the England One-Day Cup. This was Shaw’s second double-century in List-A cricket.
“The sun was out, it was kind of like Indian weather today (Wednesday) so it was really looking good. I wasn’t thinking about anything. You know when an inside edge doesn’t get me out, that means this day is for me. You have to be lucky sometimes, so I think this was a day for me. I didn’t look back after that. When I got 150 I thought I was timing the ball really well and this could be the day to go bigger,” he said.
“The 227 was in my head to be honest. I spoke to Whitey (Sam Whiteman) when he was there and I told him it’s 227, my highest score,” Shaw said. “It was a good team effort all around. I always try and win matches for the team and I’m the kind of a player who puts my team first and then myself.”
Shaw looked in deft touch as he went on to slam 28 fours and 11 sixes on his route to reach 244 runs. Surprisingly, this was his highest knock in List-A cricket, as he surpassed his score of 227 runs which he made in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Puducherry. As for Prithvi Shaw’s stint in Indian Cricket Team, he last featured for the Men in Blue in July of 2021 when he went to tour Sri Lanka.
