Prithvi Shaw began his county cricket with Northamptonshire in splendid fashion. The Delhi Capitals batter smashed a stunning 65-run knock off just 39 balls in a practice match ahead of his debut. Taking a break from domestic cricket, Shaw joined county cricket to improve his form and to potentially secure another chance to play for the Indian Cricket Team.

Northamptonshire took to social media to post a video where Prithvi Shaw can be spotted hammering the ball all over the ground to smash a fine fifty. Northamptonshire wrote on social media, “Getting straight down to business. A rapid 65 off just 39 balls for Prithvi in the 2XI this morning”
The county club announced the arrival of the young Indian batter on social media earlier this week. Shaw is set to debut for Northamptonshire later this week against Gloucestershire in Cheltenham in the One-Day Cup.
Prithvi Shaw was late to arrive in England owing to certain visa issues. As a result, the destructive opener failed to play 2 four-day County Championship fixtures. But now that he is back, it remains to be seen how he can play in English conditions.

“It’s a great opportunity for me and I’m really thankful to Northamptonshire for giving me this chance to express myself here. It’s going to be amazing I think and I’m really looking forward to it” Shaw was quoted as saying in a media release.
Shaw spent a long exile from the Indian Cricket team after having played his last match for the Men in Blue back in 2021 when India toured Sri Lanka. Earlier this year, Shaw was included in the T20 squad when New Zealand traveled to India but failed to grab his spot in the team.
The 23-year-old got involved in a court case with a social media influencer in Mumbai which further went on to hamper his poor form. He played pretty badly for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023 and was dropped from the starting lineup after a couple of games.
