Youngster Shubman Gill requires just 34 runs to complete 1,000 Test runs. The right-handed batter can achieve the milestone in the upcoming IND vs Sa 1st Test match starting from December 26 (Tuesday) onwards.
Shubman Gill made his Test debut 2020. Since then, he has become an important member of the Indian side in the longest format of the game. Shubman Gill has so far scored 966 runs in 18 Tests for the Indian team, including 2 centuries and four half-centuries.
Shubman Gill has had a terrific year in 2023. He has gone on to pile runs at his might and smash records for fun. However, the right-handed batter has failed to replicate the same form in the Test format so far. Gill averages just 32.2 in Tests and has not looked comfortable while batting at the number 3 spot in Tests.
The right-handed batter now has a chance to prove his worth at the number 3 position. However, it will not be an easy job to face the fired-up South African bowling line-up in Centurion.
