Expert Aakash Chopra has expressed his concerns over Shubman Gill poor record in overseas Test matches, especially in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). The right-handed batter failed to get going in the IND vs SA 1st Test played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Aakash Chopra, while analyzing India’s loss to South Africa on his YouTube channel, pointed out Shubman Gill’s performance outside Asia.
“I am talking about Shubman Gill here because he is referred to as the Prince of Indian cricket. For the Prince to become King, he has to walk the tight rope and improve his numbers in SENA countries. There is a lot of difference in his numbers in Asia and in SENA countries. Of course, a very young career but you have to conquer SENA countries to become the King,” Chopra said.
Gill averages 25 in SENA countries
Speaking about his numbers, Shubman Gill averages 39.25 in Tests in Asia and that drops to 25.43 when it comes to SENA countries. In his three-year-old Test career, Gill has played seven Tests outside Asia and managed to score 375 runs with the highest score of 91 against Australia. The youngster will be looking to leave a mark in the upcoming IND vs SA 2nd Test starting from next week in Johannesburg.
