In a major update by the BCCI Medical team, India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the IPL 2024, owing to a quadriceps injury he sustained during a Ranji Trophy match for Karnataka vs Gujarat, on Jan 12. This comes as a big blow for team Rajasthan Royals, whose fast-bowling reserves have considerably depleted.
As per the release by the board, “The pacer had undergone a surgery February 23rd, 2024, on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and will resume rehab at the National Cricket Academy soon. He will not be able to take part in the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
Prasidh had missed the entire 2023 season as well, due to a lumbar stress fracture in his spine, and had last played in the IPL in 2022. This could also mean, that he might not be able to make it to the T20 World Cup squad, after all.
Mohammed Shami Being Monitored
On the other hand, as was revealed earlier, Mohammed Shami was out of the IPL 2024 as well. In fact, he won’t be available for selection at the T20 World Cup as well.
The release stated, “the fast bowler successfully underwent surgery on February 26th, 2024, for his right heel problem. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team and is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
