Prasidh Krishna’s India comeback dreams dented, to miss Duleep Trophy opener: Report

Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna is yet to recover from a surgery that he underwent in February and will miss Duleep Trophy opener

Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna will miss the opening game of the Duleep Trophy after failing to recover in time from a the surgery that took place in February. The pacer joins Ishan Kishan in the list of stars missing the red-ball tournament due to injury. Krishna was named as a part of Team A in the Duleep Trophy which will be in action on September 5.

As per Cricbuzz, Krishna is ruled out as he hasn’t fully recovered from his surgery which occurred in February. The pacer from Karnataka, who has played two Tests so far, is still in the hunt to find his way back into the national side, with injuries posing an hurdle to his comeback. He is among the list of pacers featuring the likes of Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar who could possibly be selected as a back-up pacer in the absence of Shami, Siraj and Bumrah.

Krishna suffered a left quadriceps injury while bowling for Karnataka against Gujarat in Ranji Trophy earlier this year. He missed IPL 2024 as well, being unable to join Rajasthan Royals. Despite his underwhelming performance in the South Africa series, where he managed just two wickets in two Tests, Krishna was seen as a potential trump card against England. But he was eventually replaced by Akash Deep.

It remains to be seen when Prasidh Krishna will now be back in action.
