The Karnataka pacer had suffered back injury on the eve of India A’s three-match unofficial Test series against New Zealand A in September. Following the injury, he was replaced by all-rounder Shardul Thakur in the squad. The 26-year-old last played for Team India in an ODI against Zimbabwe in August last year. Before the injury, he had an impressive haul of 25 wickets from 14 ODIs at an economy rate of less than 5.50 (5.32). His average (runs per wicket) was lower than 24 (23.92).
Earlier a BCCI source while speaking to PTI had spoken about Prasidh Krishna’s timeline for a comeback from injury.
The source said, “Prasidh has a stress fracture and in case of this particular form of injury, you cannot put a date on a prospective comeback. Every player has a different body type and recovery process and time would be different. It could be anything between six months to one year. In case of Prasidh, he is still not fit enough to return to play and it is unfortunate that he missed the entire domestic season,”.

The Rajasthan Royals decided to retain the Karnataka pacer’s service for the IPL 2023 but now the franchisee will be sweating over his availability. Krishna has played only nine matches since last year’s IPL, with two of those being practice matches for Team India. Before the injury, the pacer was one of the leading pacers for Team India in ODIs.
He could also be a contender for the final of the World Test Championship, assuming India secures a victory in the upcoming home Tests against Australia. However, following an update from the BCCI source it is highly unlikely to happen. Only time will tell whether he does make his comeback on time.
