Prasidh Krishna on Wednesday became the first bowler to take a hattrick for India A in the unofficial IND A vs SA A Test. Courtesy of Krishna’s fifer, South Africa A were bundled out for 319 after starting the day at 298/5.
Prasidh Krishna, who received a call-up to India’s team for the IND vs SA Test series, produced a dazzling display on Day 3. After being wicket-less in the first two days of the Test, Krishna came into his elements on Day 3. South Africa A looked set for a big score. Set batter Jean Du Plessis was batting at 103. He looked to make it big as he took guard on Day 3. However, Krishna had other plans.

Krishna provided the breakthrough early by taking the crucial wicket of Du Plessis. Du Plessis looked comfortable until he was done over by a clever delivery from Krishna. Dhruv Jurel held on to the catch to provide Krishna with his first wicket of the match. Eathan Bosch was Krishna’s next victim as the batter was trapped in front of the wicket by the medium pacer.
With most of the top-order gone, it was a case of how quickly can India A wrap up South Africa A’s innings. Prasidh Krishna shone again this time, and how!
The fast-bowler cleaned up the last three tail enders in three balls. Kurtlyn Mannikam, Siya Plaatjie and Odirile Modimokoane failed to stand up in front of Krishna’s fiery bowling. The three batters were bowled in back-to-back balls and departed without troubling the scorers.
Krishna’s hattrick, the first ever by any bowler for India A, will be a welcome headache for the Indian team management ahead of IND vs SA Test series.
