Practice ‘not optional,’ Shubman Gill works with Abhishek Nayar before India vs New Zealand match

It looks like there is no off day for Shubman Gill as the star batter hits the nets on a rest day ahead of the India vs New Zealand Champions Trophy clash.

Well, it is really rare, especially when you are at the top of your form, but to maintain consistency, you still train hard even on rest days. That is exactly what Shubman Gill did as he went for an informal training session on Wednesday at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Along with him, quite a few members of the support staff also joined.

According to a report by The Times of India, “Shubman Gill trained with members of the support staff for an informal session. Since it wasn’t an official training day, it looks like a personal session. But it wasn’t a marathon one and took place in the afternoon hours.”

It is also important to mention that Gill did not attend the practice session under lights on Wednesday, but he did come for practice on the rest day.

Prince is ruling the ICC Champions Trophy!

Whether it was about scoring a century against Bangladesh on a tough track or playing some scintillating shots against Pakistan, taking down Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah—whoever came, saw Shubman Gill’s destructive batting. There were many doubts before the India vs England series, but he silenced everyone. Now, in the Champions Trophy as well, there is no question that Gill is surely ruling the 50-over format and will look to deliver more match-winning innings.

All Eyes will be on IND vs NZ Clash

Although more like a dead rubber, as both India and New Zealand have qualified from Group A for the semi-finals, India will still look to maintain momentum. Currently, the team is enjoying a long one-week break after the India vs Pakistan game on 23rd February. They are set to meet New Zealand on 2nd March, and the winner of the match will secure the top spot, further clarifying which team India will face in the semi-finals. Also, if the Men in Blue are looking to test some players, from Mohammed Shami to Rishabh Pant, all these decisions could come into the spotlight, making things interesting.
