Power game continues in PCB, all is not well between team director Hafeez & board: Report

Pakistan had lost the Test series against Australia 0-3, followed by a 1-4 loss in the T20I series against the Kiwis, under Hafeez.

Ever since the Pakistani team came back from rather unsuccessful tours of Australia and New Zealand, cracks in the relationship between team director Mohammad Hafeez, and the PCB-led by Mohsin Naqvi, have started to surface. As per a report in Cricket Pakistan, Hafeez was not granted permission to hold a media conference, from the PCB platform.

It was also revealed that the chief selector Wahab Riaz didn’t support the team director. The report further says that Hafeez wanted to open up as to why the Pakistani team lost, but didn’t get the green signal from the PCB. Sources close to the former all-rounder also suggest that now, Hafeez is finding it tough to remain in his current role.

Meanwhile, his place, as of now, might not be secure, as the new PCB chief, Naqvi is in favour of getting a new foreign coach.

Hafeez vs Wahab

That is not the end of it. The chief selector Wahab and Hafeez, former teammates, don’t seem to be getting along with each other as well. The report stated that, in a meeting with the Pakistan Prime Minister, Hafeez blamed Wahab for the team’s mediocre performance. Lastly, the players aren’t happy with Hafeez either, due to his strict behaviour.
