Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Team India’s dressing room after their defeat against Australia in the Cricket World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Team India captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and others were in tears after the heartbreaking loss.

On Monday, pacer Mohammed Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shared the picture of PM Modi in India’s dressing room and revealed how he motivated the players after the defeat.

Jadeja wrote: “We had a great tournament but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM @narendramodi’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating.”

Meanwhile Mohammed Shami wrote, “Unfortunately yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. Thankful to PM @narendramodi for specially coming to the dressing room and raising our spirits. We will bounce back!”.

PM Modi also comforted the Indian side on X, saying Team India’s outstanding performance throughout the tournament brought immense pride to the country.

“Dear Team India, Your talent and determination through the World Cup was noteworthy. You’ve played with great spirit and brought immense pride to the nation. We stand with you today and always”, The Prime Ministed posted.

Talking about the game, Team India were restricted to 240 in 50 overs on a tricky pitch at Narendra Modi Stadium. Chasing 241, Australia lost 3 wickets early but Travis Head (137) along with Marnus Labuchagne (58*) put on a 192-run partnership to lead the Men in Yellow to their 6th ODI World Cup title.
