The knives were out for Sam Konstas on the second day of the India vs Australia 5th Test. The 19-year-old had a run-in with Jasprit Bumrah before the close of play on the first day and paid heavily for it as the India cricket team players went hard at the youngster in Sydney.
Jasprit Bumrah calls Sam Konstas ‘a tailender’
In the 11th over, Konstas looked to slog Bumrah and somehow got away with a leading edge that went to the cover region. A grinning Bumrah returned back to the bowling mark but not before mumbling to himself that Konstas was “batting like he was number 10 or 11.”
Konstas, who made 23, had several pokes, edges, and plays and misses. But managed to escape. Well, that was until Mohammed Siraj finally got him with a tempting full delivery outside the off stump. Konstas’ eyes lit up after seeing the ball in his hitting arc, and he for a booming drive. But, unlike close shaves before, this time he found the hands of Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully.

Speaking of Jaiswal, the southpaw opener also went hard at Konstas. Unlike Bumrah, who was mumbling near the stump mic and was heard by mistake. Jaiswal was full-on sledging the 19-year-old. “What happened? No shots now? Huh, Konstas? Can’t hit shots now?” Jaiswal said in Hindi.
