About Shaheen Afridi
Shaheen Shah Afridi is a Pakistani cricketer who is regarded as one of the tallest bowlers in Pakistani cricket history. Also, he is regarded as one of the very few players to have the ability to bowl at a speed of 90 mph with consistency.
Shaheen Afridi was born on 6 April 2000 at Landi Kotal at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-hand fast bowler. His primary role in the team is that of a bowler, but he is an aspiring all-rounder.
Career
International career
Shaheen made his One Day International debut on 21 September 2018 against Afghanistan at Abu Dhabi. He took 2 wickets in the match as Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 3 wickets.
The T20I debut for Shaheen Afridi came on 3 April 2018 against West Indies at Karachi. He had a poor start to his career but ended up being on the victorious side at the end of the match. He has 14 wickets in 10 matches with his best bowling figures being 3/20.
Afridi’s most memorable T20I performance of his career so far came during the Super-10 fixture against arch-rivals India in the T20 World Cup 2021. Shaheen Afridi made his debut in Test cricket on 3 December 2018 against New Zealand at Abu Dhabi. Shaheen took 3 wickets in the match and New Zealand cricket team won the match by 123 runs.
Domestic career
In December 2016, Afridi was included in the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team selected for the 2016 Under-19 Asia Cup held in Sri Lanka. He took 3 wickets for 27 runs in Pakistan’s nine wickets win over Singapore in their opening match of the U-19 Asia Cup. In early September 2017, Afridi signed a two-year contract with Dhaka Dynamites, a major Bangladesh Premier League franchise.
