International career
In August 2018, Shaw received his maiden call-up to India’s Test squad for the final two Tests against England, though he didn’t feature in any match. The following month, he was included in India’s Test squad for the series against the West Indies and made his Test debut on 4 October 2018. Shaw marked his debut with a century, becoming the youngest Indian to achieve this feat at just 18 years and 319 days. India won the second Test, and Shaw was honored as the Player of the Series.
In January 2020, Shaw was named in India’s ODI squad for the series against New Zealand and made his debut in February. He was also selected for the Test series in New Zealand, contributing with one half-century in four innings. Shaw was part of the Test squad for the Australian tour in 2020 but faced criticism for his batting technique after a poor performance in the first Test against Australia.
