About Naman Dhir 

Naman Dhir, a batting all-rounder representing Punjab, played a minor role in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy triumph in 2023-24. However, his impressive performance in the Sher-E-Punjab local T20 tournament caught the attention of Mumbai Indians’ scouting team. Finishing as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 466 runs at a remarkable strike rate of nearly 193, Dhir was acquired by Mumbai Indians for his base price of INR 20 lakh in the IPL 2024 auction. With Suryakumar Yadav sidelined due to injury, Dhir made his IPL debut against Gujarat Titans, filling in at the No.3 position for Mumbai.

Domestic career 

Making his debut in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season, the Haryana-born Naman Dhir immediately caught attention by smashing two centuries, one notably against Saurashtra in the quarter-final clash. Additionally, as an off-spinner, he took three wickets in five innings, with his best performance being 2-29 against Vidarbha.

Following his notable performance in red-ball cricket, Dhir turned his focus to the Punjab T20 2023 tournament, where he showcased exceptional batting skills. Accumulating 466 runs in 12 games at an average of 42.36 and a striking 192.56, he epitomized modern T20 batting. Notably, he emerged as the second-highest run-scorer in the competition and also displayed his bowling prowess, claiming eight wickets across 11 innings.

Despite a disappointing showing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023, where he managed only 39 runs in four innings, Mumbai Indians, renowned for discovering hidden talents, have shown faith in him by including him in their roster for IPL 2024.
