Manimaran Siddharth, born on July 3, 1998, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is an Indian cricketer who has gained recognition for his slow left-arm orthodox bowling and right-handed batting. Siddharth made a strong debut in professional cricket in November 2019, playing for Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His impressive performance in his T20 debut, where he took four wickets against Mumbai, quickly set him apart. Later that year, he made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy, playing against Karnataka, where he took three wickets.
Siddharth rose to prominence in the 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, playing a pivotal role in Tamil Nadu’s championship win. In the final against Baroda, he produced a brilliant performance, taking four wickets for just 20 runs, earning him the Man of the Match award. His consistent domestic performances led to his selection in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2020 IPL auction, where he gained valuable experience working with established spinners like Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav. He was later picked up by the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2021 IPL auction.
In the 2023 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), Siddharth further showcased his adaptability by bowling as a new-ball swing bowler for the Lyca Kovai Kings. His economy rate of 5.61 in the tournament was the best among bowlers who bowled over 100 balls, underlining his versatility and skill.
Known for his ability to deceive batsmen with a combination of spin and pace, Siddharth’s bowling style is marked by his slow left-arm orthodox deliveries.
