Gurjapneet Singh was born in Ludhiana, Punjab, but later relocated to Ambala, Haryana. In pursuit of his cricketing dreams, he moved to Chennai in 2017. There, he played college cricket and showcased his talent in the TNCA third division for Egmore RC. His performance in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) for the Dindigul Dragons in 2021, where he developed his skills under the guidance of former cricketer Yo Mahesh, marked a significant step in his cricketing journey.
However, Singh faced setbacks due to a back injury that sidelined him for most of 2022. Returning in 2023, he played for Siechem Madurai Panthers in the TNPL, where he had an outstanding season, taking 15 wickets at an average of 14.10.
First-Class Debut
In 2024, Gurjapneet served as a net bowler for the Indian cricket team and had memorable moments, including dismissing star batsman Virat Kohli at the Chepauk nets before a Test match against Bangladesh. Gurjapneet made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy against Saurashtra, achieving remarkable figures of 6 for 22, including the wicket of established batsman Cheteshwar Pujara.
