Players who returned to their former franchises during IPL Auction

Here are five players who have made a return to their former IPL team.

In Indian Premier League (IPL) Auctions, many major players return to their former side as franchises want re-associate with their ex-player. Ahead of the IPL Auction 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) made the greatest move and bought their former superstar player Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans (GT). This is not the first time that a player has returned to his previous side. Let us dive into the past and see who were the players made their homecoming in their former IPL team.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya made a blockbuster return to his former side Mumbai Indians after playing for Gujarat Titans for two years. Ahead of the IPL Auction 2024, Hardik moved to his previous franchises. The Indian all-rounder captained GT for their title win in 2022 and guided the team to be the runner-up in IPL 2023.

Gautam Gambhir

Former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir started the IPL journey with his home team Delhi Daredevils in 2008. He featured for the team till 2010 and scored 1,097 runs in three seasons.

He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2011 where he won two IPL trophies in the year 2012 and 2014 and made it to the playoffs in 2011, 2016, and 2017. He moved back to Delhi in his last IPL season 2018.

Sanju Samson

Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson impressed everyone in 2013, playing for RR. Samson played for Rajasthan till 2015.

He moved to Delhi Daredevils for two seasons but later in 2018, he returned to his former side. He was given a captain’s hat in IPL 2021. Samson helped RR to reach the final of the IPL 2022 with his bat and captaincy skills.

Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh was a skipper of Punjab Kings (former Kings XI Punjab) in 2008 and 2009. He guided his team for the playoffs in the opening season of IPL.

He was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore at Rs. 14 crores and later went to Delhi Daredevils at the high price of Rs 16 crores. After playing for five different franchises, Yuvraj came back to his former side in 2018.

David Warner

David Warner returned to Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. He was picked by Delhi as an uncapped batter in 2009. In 55 games, he had scored 1435 runs for the team. He joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and went on to become the second-highest run-scorer in 2016. Warner is a key batter for DC in these two seasons, scoring runs on a regular basis.
